The traditional Japanese hakama is a pair of divided skirt-like trousers that are used in the samurai sword arts like Kendo, Iaido and Batto-jitsu. The hakama is also part of the aikido uniform. It is said that masters of the arts used the hakama to hide their tricky foot work.
